What are the entry requirements?
As you’ll get a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) you’ll need a relevant degree.
- Unlike a year of a PGCE you will earn a competitive salary and be comfortable in the knowledge that your salary is yours to do what you wish.
- If you have school-based experience already we can provide you access to the next intake. If you are a career changer or graduate, we provide you with valuable school-based experience prior to starting your PGCE with QTS in September, January or April.
- Most of your time will be spent in a classroom where you will gain priceless practical experience; preparing you for your career as a teacher.
- You will gain first-class teacher training with a leading university. At the end of the programme, you will achieve PGCE with QTS.
Qualification
You will be awarded a PGCE with QTS and will be ready to start your career. Hopefully, you will secure a role in your host school, or we can work with you to secure a permanent/temporary position.
Our Postgraduate Teaching Apprenticeship is an initial teacher training course, offered at primary level (ages 5-11 and 7-11) and in a range of subjects at secondary level (ages 11-16, 11-18 and 14-19).
Apprentice Teachers are not required to attend lectures or long blocks of time in person on our campus. Teacher training is best done in schools, which is where trainees will spend all of their time under the supervision of first-rate teachers. Alongside in-school mentoring, our online webinars, tutorials, interactive course materials and discussions guide trainees throughout the course.
Trainees are also invited to attend termly 2-day educational conferences at the university to provide opportunities to share experiences with peers, cement learning and engage with leading and highly-respected educationalists.
Level 6 Teaching Apprenticeships are funded through your Apprenticeship levy. This is a fund that employers including schools, academy trusts and local authorities contribute to if their wage bill exceeds £3m per annum.
