What’s it like to be stepping back into a classroom after your summer break and a new class? Nerve-wracking, I am sure, but I know as dedicated teachers you wouldn’t have it any other way. The start of term is a fresh start, a clean page and we hope gives you a real buzz of excitement.
What things can you do to cope and plan for your fresh start and it’s a question that Helen Morgan, a previous Head of School, and now an education consultant, and Andy Bridge, a current Deputy Principal, Lead Associates of Thirsty Scholars Partnership are considering. Stepping into the classroom whether you are new to teaching or an established teacher on the first day of term is TOUGH, even in a normal academic year. Helen and Andy share experiences of their times as new teachers and having worked with a vast amount of teachers, encouraging them to take their first or next steps into the classroom.
Helen and Andy’s go-to framework is Barak Rosenshine’s Principles of Instruction which we will be exploring in these episodes.
In this episode, we start at the beginning with Step 1 and discuss the value of “Daily Review.”
