In today’s episode, we look at ‘Adverse Childhood Experiences’
This series of podcasts seeks to support everybody working in the school’s sector to understand what we mean by Trauma-informed practice and what good practice in this area looks like and share practical strategies that can make a difference. We will consider the best available evidence from psychology, education research and the health and care sector to help us refine our approaches within the classroom.
In this week’s episode, we discuss ‘Adverse Childhood Experiences’. Childhood is a vulnerable time, and what happens to us has a significant impact. Adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) describe traumatic experiences that can have lasting effects into adulthood. The more ACEs someone experiences, the more challenging it may be to overcome. In this podcast, we look at what adverse childhood experiences are, their impact, and how to prevent them—and, most importantly, explore coping strategies for those affected by ACEs.
